JAKARTA - Fugitive in cases of fraud and embezzlement of car rental, Christopher Steffanus Budianto alias Steven was arrested by police in Bangkok, Thailand, Monday, November 20. Steven was arrested in collaboration with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Thai Police. Steven and the police team are expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng on Tuesday, November 21 tonight. Steven will be immediately escorted by the Police International Relations Division (Hubinter Polri) to Polda Metro Jaya for further processing. Christopher Steffanus Budianto alias Steven is a fugitive in cases of fraud and embezzlement of car rental for artist Jessica Iskandar with a loss of Rp9.8 billion. This case of fraud and embezzlement of car rentals was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya by Jessica Iskandar on June 15, 2022. Reports were recorded with the number LP/B/2947/VI/2022/. Steven was reported under Article 378 of the Criminal Code and/or 372 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud and embezzlement. Steven had fled to avoid the police pursuit. On Wednesday, June 14, 2022, the Head of Sub-Directorate for Ranmor, Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Yuliansyah, suspected that Steven had fled to Malaysia and Singapore. Christopher Steffanus Budianto alias Steven is also on the Interpol wanted list (DPO) after the Polda Metro Jaya submitted a red notice for the NCB-Interpol Indonesia Secretariat.

Previously, the police had summoned Steven before being named a suspect twice. However, Steven never fulfilled the call.
