Ahead Of The Campaign Period, Batam Bawaslu Starring The Social Media Of Political Parties, Legislative Candidates To Simpatisan Langgar Cyber Crime

RIAU - The Batam City Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) oversees social media accounts belonging to political parties (parpol) and legislative candidates for the 2024 General Election.

Batam City Bawaslu member Syailendra Reza said campaigns on social media needed attention, especially for accounts registered with the KPU.

Syailendra explained that false information and hate speech in political years are often carried out by social media accounts that are not registered with the KPU.

"Hoaxes and hate speech usually come from unregistered accounts, Bawaslu in carrying out function duties is limited by regulations. For this reason, this problem must be included in the realm of cyber crime and be dealt with immediately," said Syailendra in Batam City, Riau Islands, Sunday, November 19, confiscated by Antara.

In addition, he added, Bawaslu on various occasions also provides education to the public regarding three issues in the political year, namely money politics, ASN neutrality, as well as politicization of ethnicity, religion, race and intergroup (SARA).

"There are three issues discussed, namely anti-money politics, ASN neutrality, and SARA politicization. This is certainly in line with the principle of prevention from Bawaslu," he said.

Previously, the Batam City Bawaslu invited the public to participate in supervising the practice of money politics in the 2024 General Election.

Batam City Bawaslu member Zainal Abidin, Wednesday (15/11), said his party was also coordinating with Batam International University (UIB) as the registered election monitor.

"The politics of money is actually that from Bawaslu there is participatory supervision involving all elements of society," said Zainal.
