JAKARTA - A TikToker named Vicky Kalea was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police for using the brand of one of the national television stations which was spread through social media on Thursday, November 16.
The perpetrator, who is the owner of the TikTok account @vicky_kalea, finally languished in the West Jakarta Metro Police detention cell with multiple articles, namely the ITE criminal case and the crime of brand abuse.
The case was revealed after PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri took legal steps by reporting Vicky Kalea to the West Jakarta Metro Police.
The perpetrator was reported for making a parody of the Indosiar Berkah Pintu program entitled 'Jasa Makes Children Tour'. In the video, Vicky and his wife embed the Indosiar logo on the left side without the company's permission.
The video, which was uploaded on June 26, 2023, managed to steal the attention of TikTok users with a total of 19 million views and 250,246 hours of playback.
West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Syahduddi said, in the video upload, 55 thousand followers of the @vicky_kalea account increased.
"This incident was revealed when an employee of PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri, with the initials KAB, found the parody on TikTok on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. The Parody displays the official Indosiar logo without permission from the company," he said, Thursday, November 16.

"In his explanation to the police, Vicky admitted that he himself created the entertainment content and added the 'Indosiar' logo," he said.
The content was made using a personal cellphone and uploaded without the company's permission. Vicky stated that he got the Indosiar logo from a Google search engine before embedding it illegally in the video.
This case was given mediation handling by the West Jakarta Metro Police, where Vicky officially admitted his mistake and apologized to PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri.
"The reported violation of Law number 20 of 2016 concerning Brands and Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions," he said.
