The Second Phase Of Vaccination Will Begin Immediately, Here Is The List Of The Recipients

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) will start the implementation of the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination for the elderly and public service workers in the third week of February.

Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, said that the total target of the second phase of vaccination reached 38,513,446 people. This figure consists of more than 21 million elderly and 17 million for public service workers.

"The government will initiate the second phase of vaccination, given to public servants and groups of people aged 60 years and over", Maxi said in a virtual press conference, Monday, February 15.

The priority targets for the second phase of vaccination include the elderly, market merchants, educators, religious leaders and counselors, representatives of the people, officials, government, civil servants, the National Army and Police Force, security officers, and tourism officers.

Furthermore, public services, public transportation workers, public transportation officers (ticket officers, train drivers, airport officers, pilots, flight attendants, port officers, Transjakarta officers, MRT, bus drivers, taxi drivers, also online ojek drivers), athletes, and media workers.

Given that the number of COVID-19 vaccines is still limited because it is being produced and has not been distributed from the agreed vaccine producing countries, the Ministry of Health will make up the proportion of each target group.

The elderly group in Indonesia is around 21 million people. Initially, the Ministry of Health will proportion 20 to 30 percent of the elderly in each province.

"Then after that, the market merchants. We also proportionate the market merchants to get about 50 to 60 percent. After that, teachers around 60-70 percent. After that, the State Civil Apparatus, the National Army and Police Force, and other public officials about 20 to 30 percent, the other public targets get a proportion of 10 to 15 percent", explained Maxi.

Maxi continued, about 70 percent of the second phase vaccination target for the elderly and public services will be distributed in 7 provinces in Java and Bali.

"Why in Java Bali? Because almost 70 percent of positive cases are in those 7 provinces. Then from the 70 percent, there are around 6.3 million elderly, we will distribute according to priority", he said.

The provision of COVID-19 vaccination for each target in this second phase will be carried out simultaneously in accordance with vaccine availability.
