West Jakarta Residents Less Able To Get Wheelchairs From Social Service, Here's How

The West Jakarta Social Service (Sudinsos) Sub-Department (Jakbar) stated that the procurement of wheelchairs for people with disabilities and underprivileged in West Jakarta was carried out through submissions to the Sudinsos Implementing Unit (Satpel) in the kelurahan.

Head of West Jakarta Sub-dept. Suprapto explained that the application for wheelchair needs from people with disabilities was carried out by asking for an introductory letter to the sub-district Sudinsos Satpel which was then addressed to the Social Service Agency.

"So the person concerned applied to Sudinsos, but through the Satpel in the kelurahan. Requesting a letter of introduction from the kelurahan and then addressed to Sudinsos," Suprapto said when contacted in Jakarta on Monday, November 13, as reported by Antara.

Then, his party will provide a position or direction to the Sub-District Social Security Unit to make visits to residents concerned as field verification related to the procurement of goods.

"Later I will give the Satpel a disposition to carry out a 'visit' (visit) to the person concerned," Suprapto said.

If the visit has been made, said Suprapto, his party will then procure goods in this case in a wheelchair.

"Later, when the Satpel has been 'visited', the goods are there, then we give them to the residents concerned. They can go through the village head or through the local RT/RW," said Suprapto.

Regarding the procurement of wheelchairs in 2023, his party has been doing it since the beginning of the year until now.

"We have been distributing wheelchairs since the beginning of the year and are still in process until the end of the year. Always, if there is a request from our residents, we distribute it," said Suprapto.

This year, his party has distributed a total of 400 wheelchairs and is still continuing until the end of the year. "The total is until now 400, for people with disabilities and underprivileged," Suprapto said.
