JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet US President Joe Biden in mid-November 2023.

"At the invitation of US President Joe Biden, President Xi Jinping will travel to the United States for a bilateral meeting of China-US and the 30th APEC Summit (KTT)," a written statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 10.

According to the statement, the two presidents will discuss strategic, comprehensive and fundamental issues that form China-US relations as well as key issues regarding world peace and development.

"Meanwhile, at APEC's 30th Summit, President Xi Jinping's presence reflects how important it is for China to see economic cooperation among Asian-Pacific countries," the statement said.

With the increasing instability and uncertainty factors in the world economy, there is hope for Asian-Pacific countries to remain the engine of the economy leading global growth.

"APEC is a major platform for economic cooperation in Asia-Pacific. President Xi Jinping will deliver an important speech at the meeting to outline China's main views on efforts to strengthen Asia-Pacific cooperation and promote regional and global economic growth," the statement said.

China also hopes that all parties will remember what is in the main interest of Asian-Pacific countries to unite, focus on urgent needs in the region, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, achieve the APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040 in a comprehensive and balanced manner, and work to produce positive things at the meeting.

"So that it can provide a new growth boost for the Asia-Pacific region and be even wider for the world and jointly build an Asia-Pacific community for a shared future,".

The APEC Summit (KTT) is scheduled to take place from 16-17 November 2023 in San Francisco, USA.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a cooperation forum between 21 economic entities in the Pacific Ocean ring which was founded in 1989.

APEC members are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong-China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Peru, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.

Cooperation in APEC is a non-political cooperation, characterized by membership of Hong Kong and Taiwan. APEC members are called "economics" considering that each member interacts with each other as an economic entity, and not as a country.

APEC has three observers (observers), namely: ASEAN Secretariat, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Secretariat.

APEC's main goal is to encourage economic growth and improve welfare in Asia Pacific. This is done by encouraging and facilitating trade and investment that is more free and open in the region, as well as increasing cooperation in developing member economic capacity.

APEC's main goal is contained in APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040's long-term vision document, which was agreed in 2020. This vision replaces Bogor Goals which has been APEC's long-term vision since 1994.

The goals to be achieved in 2040 are: "Our vision is an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community by 2040, for the property of all our people and future generations".
