JAKARTA - Dozens of entertainment venues or brothels equipped with karaoke in the area of Jurang Kuping, Benowo Village, Pakal District, Surabaya City, East Java, were closed due to violation of health protocol regulations (prokes).

"Usually there are culinary and karaoke activities in that place. That's why we closed it yesterday (13/2)," said Head of Pakal Sub-district, Tranggono Wahyu Wibowo, in Surabaya, as reported by Antara, Sunday, February 14.

According to him, the reason for the closure of activities at the Jurang Kuping was that apart from being used as a karaoke place, there were also culinary activities and the sale of alcoholic drinks.

So far, he continued, drunken visitors are difficult to control related to health protocols.

"Hence, we were ordered by the Surabaya COVID-19 Task Force to terminate all business establishments in the Jurang Kuping," he said.

The closure of the entertainment venue in the Jurang Kuping was carried out by dozens of personnel consisting of the Administrative Police Unit, the Community Service Unit, the National Army, the National Police, and Multipurpose Ansor Front (Banser).

They immediately put on the stickers of health protocols and tidied up table chairs so as not to be used for the selling activity by the dozens of stalls scattered in the area.

According to him, in accordance with the plan in the next few days, officers will continue to monitor the local area. This is important to ensure that the businesses around the area continue to comply with the regulations.

Even though business activities are closed, said Tranggono, residents' activities are still allowed, such as going to the fields, looking for grass, and disposing of garbage in temporary landfills (Waste Disposal Site).

"So, there are still activities, except for the place of business because all this time that is our concern," he said.

If violations are found, according to the Mayor's Regulation (Perwali) Number 2 Year 2021 regarding the Application of Health Protocols in the Context of Preventing and Breaking the Spread of COVID-19, the violator will be subject to sanctions in the form of confiscation of ID cards and a minimum fine of IDR 500 and a maximum of IDR 25 million.

"Actually, this is not the first activity, yesterday when the first restrictions on community activities (PPKM) were implemented, we had already conducted an inspection here. However, we will intensify this even more," he said.
