JAKARTA - Seeing Nadiem Makarim leading the meeting, or giving information about developments and challenges in the world of education in Indonesia is commonplace.

These tasks are inherent in Nadiem's daily life, who is the number one person in the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

So, if Nadiem became an impromptu English teacher, how would you react?

This funny and happy moment happened at Muhammadiyah Al Amin Senior High School which is located on Jl. Merpati, Malaimsimsa District, Sorong City, West Papua Province. Nadiem shared the moment on the TikTok account @Nediem Makarim.

The video duration is quite short, only 59 seconds. Nadiem appears to be entering a classroom which is of course empty because students are still taking lessons online. Looks in front of him a laptop that has been connected to students.

"Hello everyone, I will be your English teacher, for the next 2 minutes," said Nadiem using English while waving at the students on the laptop screen.

It was heard that the students replied to Nadiem's greeting, "Hi."

"You are very lucky to have a teacher who has excellent English skills," said Nadiem again.

Not yet answered by the students, Nadiem turned his face and asked the female teacher who taught the subject.

"Where did the teacher learn English?" asked Nadiem.

"The campus, mas? Cendrawasih University," answered the teacher.

"The teacher speaks fluently like native people (English) are cool," said Nadiem.

"Thank you, Mas, it's an honor for me," replied the teacher.

Nadiem then faced back to the laptop monitor and said to the students.

"Hopefully the pandemic will end soon and we can meet directly, brothers and sisters, be careful," said Nadiem.

Before leaving, Nadiem, who looked casual wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a native Papuan hat, gave a message to his children.

"Be fine with your teachers, because it's not easy to teach long-distance," said Nadiem.
