Nadiem Encourages Schools In IKN To Implement Independent Curriculum

JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim encourages educational units located in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, to implement the Independent Curriculum such as 300 thousand other educational units in Indonesia.

"The Merdeka Curriculum provides an opportunity for schools to no longer be burdened with extraordinary number of teaching materials," he said, quoted from Antara, Sunday.

At IKN itself, two schools are currently being developed and revitalized, namely Nusantara Intercultural School (NIS) and SD Negeri 020 Sepaku in order to provide quality education, especially when the state civil apparatus (ASN) and people move to IKN.

SDN 020 Sepaku is now in a flood-prone location which results in disruption of teaching and learning activities so that the local government and relevant stakeholders take the initiative to rebuild in a safer location.

Nadiem hopes that later these two schools can implement the Merdeka Curriculum because it will improve the quality of human resources (HR).

In addition, he also invited teachers and education personnel to take advantage of the transformation and reform of education management through the Independent Learning Platform (PMM) which has been used by more than 2.8 million teachers in Indonesia to learn and share with each other.

Likewise, the use of the results of the national assessment (AN) as a reference for school principals to help manage education units.

Principal of SDN 020 Sepaku Pujianto also responded positively to this school revitalization project because it would be able to create a decent and comfortable school for students to study.

One of the first grade students at SDN 020 Sepaku named Fanaya Ashalina also admitted that she was proud that her school was selected for the revitalization project because she and her friends could have a new school.

It feels good and proud to be able to have a new school. Hopefully it won't flood again, so you can go to school comfortably," said Fanaya.
