There Are Still Indonesian Citizens In Gaza, Foreign Minister Retno Admits The Evacuation Process Is Very Complicated

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister (Menlu) Retno Marsudi said there were still Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Gaza, Palestine. They have not been evacuated to the country.

Retno admitted that the process of evacuating Indonesian citizens trapped in the midst of Israeli aggression against Palestine was not easy. Based on previous experience, the evacuation only succeeded after several attempts were made.

This was revealed by Retno after attending the Palestinian defense action in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta.

"The process is very complicated. If what we have succeeded in evacuating in northern Gaza, the taboo at that time is security because evacuation requires up to 3 attempts, then only 4 times it works, because if that's the case they leave, then there will be attacks and so on," said Retno, Sunday, November 5th.

Today, the Indonesian government will again seek the evacuation process of an Indonesian citizen family who will be picked up from southern Gaza.

Meanwhile, Retno said that a family consisting of husband, wife, and 3 children had been successfully evacuated.

"Currently they are in Egypt and are already heading to Indonesia. Meanwhile, today we will try again to evacuate another family in southern Gaza," said Retno.

Furthermore, Retno said Indonesia had sent humanitarian aid to Palestine. The assistance is in the form of 51.5 tons of food, medical equipment, and logistics.

The release of aid deliveries to Palestine was led directly by President Joko Widodo on Saturday, November 4.

"Last Saturday, the president sent the first stage of assistance for Gaza. Then the second stage will be prepared soon," he said.
