Recovering The Court's Wibawa, MKMK's Decision Is More Effective Than The Right To Administrative Rights

The decision of the Honorary Court of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) is considered more effective in restoring the authority of the Constitutional Court (MK) than through the use of the right of inquiry by the DPR.

According to the Coordinator of the Indonesian Voters Committee (Tepi Indonesia), Jeiry Sumampouw, the proposal to use the DPR's right of inquiry to solve problems at the Constitutional Court is a natural and legitimate matter. However, the main key to restoring the authority of the Constitutional Court is the decision of the Constitutional Court which fulfills the public's sense of justice.

"As a right, it's okay, but if it's not angket, it's initiated for political purposes, I don't think it will work to achieve the expected goal. That's the problem," he said, Saturday, November 4.

Jeiry assessed that as a political institution, the public will see the discourse on the use of skyrocketing rights with a strong political nuance. Therefore, it would be better if the Constitutional Court was able to carry out its roles and functions properly and in order to restore public trust in the Constitutional Court.

"I think the public has high hopes for the MKMK. It is much more strategic and effective. Hopefully they will remain committed to maintaining the dignity of the Constitutional Court, not being trapped or not being influenced by political affairs in the Constitutional Court's decision," he added.

Jeiry invites the public to jointly strengthen and support the MKMK in resolving the current constitutional crisis. According to him, if the MKMK is unable to produce a clear decision, a bigger problem will arise, namely the loss of public trust in the judiciary institution as a result of the election.

"That's why we strengthen and support the Constitutional Court. For me it is much more effective and much more trustworthy to the public. We also have to encourage the Constitutional Court judge to really think as a statesman, who is not trapped in political interests or influenced by certain political forces," Jeiry said.
