Prosecutors Name ASN Badung PMD Service Suspects Of Extortion Rp665 Million

The Badung District Attorney's Special Crime Investigators have named PS as ASN at the Badung Regency Community and Village Empowerment Service, Bali as a suspect in the alleged crime of gratification and extortion of employee admissions with a total of Rp665 million.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Badung District Attorney, Gde Ancana, said that the determination and detention of the suspect PS was based on two sufficient preliminary evidence.

The determination was based on the Letter of Determination of the Suspect of the Head of the Badung District Attorney Number: TAP-4374/N.1.18/Fd.2/11/2023 dated November 2, 2023.

The suspect PS is suspected of violating Article 12 letter e jo. Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Ancana explained that the suspect PS was suspected of recruiting prospective employees with the lure of certain positions at the Badung Regency Government Village Community Empowerment Service by utilizing his influence as an administrative manager.

"In 2021, in the receipt of non-ASN employees, the Badung Regency Government has no open announcement regarding the information on the implementation of non-ASN employee admissions needed in the Badung Regency Government Regional Apparatus Organization," Ancana said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 2.

However, the suspect PS has several times included several people as non-ASN employees within the Badung Regency Government, by offering assistance/services to people who wish to work with the Badung Regency Government can be accepted as one of the non-ASN employees in Regional Apparatus Organizations within the Regency Government.

To become an employee, each candidate must give a number of tributes to the PS suspect in order to get a certain position.

In this case, PS asked for some money from the parents/candidates for non-ASN employees by receiving cash and/or by bank transfer with a total amount of Rp665,000,000.

According to Ancana, based on the investigation, four people were victims of PS's actions. However, the Badung Kejari investigators are still investigating this case, including exploring the involvement of other parties and the number of victims of the PS suspect's actions.

"For the time being there are four victims. However, further investigation is still being carried out," he said.

According to Ancana's statement, the payment of a sum of money from parents/candidates for non-ASN employees of the Badung Regency Regional Government was made by force at the request of the suspect PS.

"If the payment of a certain amount of money is not made, the position/formation of non-ASN employees of the Badung Regency Government will be occupied/entered by other people," said Ancana.

However, until now, the prospective non-ASN employee of the Badung Regency Government who has given a sum of money to the PS suspect has not been successfully accepted as a non-ASN employee to the Badung Regency Government.

Based on the Investigation Order of the Head of the Badung District Attorney Number: PRINT-1328/N.1.18/Fd.2/07/2023 dated July 24, 2023, the Prosecutor concluded PS met the requirements to be named a suspect.

After being questioned and named a suspect, investigators also detained PS at the Class II A Penitentiary in Kerobokan, Badung, Thursday (2/11) for the next 20 waiting for the trial schedule.
