JAKARTA - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin emphasized that the reason his country supports the UN General Assembly's resolution regarding the humanitarian break in Gaza and the distribution of aid without a hitch was the desire to reiterated the fair and lasting solution in Palestine.

"This resolution calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, condemning all acts of violence aimed at civilians and demanding all parties comply with the obligation to protect civilians and civilian objects," Wang told media in Beijing, China, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

The UN General Assembly on Friday in its 10th emergency hearing calling for a humanitarian ceasefire between Palestinians and Israel and demanding access to aid to the surrounded Gaza Strip and the protection of civilians.

The resolution of the draft Arab countries was approved by 120 countries including China, 45 bstain and 14 countries, including Israel and the United States (US), opposed.

The emergency hearing came after the UN Security Council failed to issue a resolution four times in the past two weeks to take action against Israel.

"This reaffirms the importance of agreeing on a just and lasting solution to Palestinian problems based on a two-state solution," Wang added.

According to Wang, since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict sharpened, China has continued to call for a ceasefire and a halt to conflicts, the protection of civilians, the opening of humanitarian aid corridors, and the prevention of larger-scale humanitarian disasters.

"We have played an active and constructive role in pushing for a comprehensive, fair and long-term Palestinian problem resolution. China, as one of the sponsors of the draft resolution proposed by the Arab countries, voted in favor," Wang said.

Wang said the UN General Assembly showed the most votes agreed to the resolution.

"This reflects a strong international community call for fighting to stop. China hopes that this new UN General Assembly resolution can be implemented completely so that peace and stability will be realized and tensions against humanity on the ground will soon subside," Wang added.

China, according to Wang, will firmly support all dialogue, ceasefire, peace and other efforts that support the implementation of two-state solutions and a comprehensive, fair and long-term Palestinian problem-solving.

"China is ready to work closely with the international community to make relentless efforts to achieve that goal," Wang said.

The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7 has increased to 8,005, while Israel has lost 1,538 of its citizens.

A total of 2.3 million people in Gaza are also grappling with scarcity of food, water, fuel, and medicine due to Israeli blockades in their area.

Few aid trucks have successfully entered Gaza since the Rafah cross-border gate opened on October 21.
