Police Take CCTV Footage Of Broken Glass Bridge Tour In Banyumas Kills 1 Tourist

JATENG - A Banyumas Police Inafis Officer took footage of a monitoring camera or CCTV to investigate the incident where a broken glass bridge was ended in the fall of four tourists, one of whom died.

After releasing the DVR from its place, Inafis officers immediately put it in a bag of evidence and took it to the Banyumas Police Headquarters in Purwokerto.

When he wanted to be confirmed after taking the CCTV camera footage, the Deputy Head of the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Benny Timor Prasetyo was reluctant to comment.

"Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow the Forensic Laboratory will conduct a TKP (the crime scene)," he said, confiscated by Antara.

On a separate occasion, the head of the Limpakuwus Pine Forest Cooperative, Eko Purnomo, said that the "The Geong" glass bridge ride was not part of HPL management.

According to him, the "The Geong" glass bridge ride is located on land owned by the Ministry of Agriculture managed by the Baturraden Center for Superior Livestock and Livestock feed Greens (BBPTUHPT), not on land owned by Perum Perhutani which is currently being used for the Limpauwus Pine Forest tourist area.

In this case, he said, the manager of "The Geong" cooperates with Kokanana, which is a cooperative owned by BBPUHPT.

"The manager of 'The Geong' cooperates with us only in terms of parking. Visitors pay for parking in front, we accommodate it," he said.

He said the vehicle had entered the HPL tourist area since one year ago but began official operations during the 2023 Eid momentum because the construction was carried out in stages.

After Eid, he said, his party held an evaluation related to management including social media management and risk management.

According to him, his party found many complaints on social media that highlighted the problem of construction and securing the glass bridge ride.

"We found complaints through comments on social media that exceeded the tolerance limit. The figure is almost 5 percent of the number of visits," he said.

Therefore, he said, his party invited Kokanaina and the manager of "The Geong" but the two parties could not attend in person and were only represented.

Thus, he continued, there was no common ground on the complaints submitted by visitors through social media, so his party left a message if he wanted to coordinate on the matter.

Furthermore, Eko admitted that he had just returned from Prof. Dr Margono Soekarjo Hospital Purwokerto to see the condition of the tourists who were injured after falling from the broken glass bridge.

"The victim with the initials AI is still in the ER, thank God his condition has improved, but the final results of the examination are not yet known," he said.

He said that based on information from the victim's family, it was known that the child of the tourist who died actually wanted to surprise his mother with the initials FA if he had been accepted to work.

According to him, the child came to HPL separately by using a motorbike, while his mother and her entourage used a minibus.

However, when he arrived at HPL, he said, the child received information that his mother was one of the victims who fell from a glass bridge.

"I met the child at the near counter, when I wanted to take the second victim (AI). If his father said, the FA victim would actually go on a pilgrimage next year," he said.

Regarding the incident, Eko said that his party would follow the Banyumas Police' request to temporarily close the HPL tourist area to an unknown time limit.

The "The Geong" glass bridge incident occurred on Wednesday, October 25, at around 10:00 WIB, when 11 tourists from Cilacap were on the ride.

When some tourists were at one of the points of the glass bridge which was at an altitude of 10 meters, suddenly the glass they stepped on broke.

As a result of the incident, four tourists fell, two of whom fell to the ground, while two others were hanging on the bridge frame.

Two tourists who fell to the ground consisted of AI (41) who were injured and FA (49) who based on the results of the doctor's examination were declared dead moments after falling, while the two victims who were hanging on the bridge frame consisted of WA (39) and SSP (45).
