Police Investigate 2 Tourists Falling From The Geong Limpakawus Glass Bridge

BANYUMAS - Banyumas Police are investigating the incident of falling tourists from a glass bridge in The Geong tourist area, Limpakuwus Pine Forest, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.

The incident of the broken glass bridge resulted in the death of a visitor and another injured.

"Earlier at around 10:00 WIB, we received information that there was an accident, where someone fell from a glass bridge," said Banyumas Police Chief Kombes Edy Suranta Sitepu as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 25.

The Banyumas Police immediately visited the tourist area and installed a police line at the crime scene (TKP).

Edy explained that based on the information gathered at the scene, the visitors who were using the glass bridge vehicle were a group of tourists from Cilacap as many as 11 people.

According to him, the group of tourists used the glass bridge at around 10:00 WIB. Four tourists in the group fell because there was a sheet of glass that broke when they were stepped on.

"When the glass broke, two people had time to hold on to the safety on the glass bridge; then two more people fell down," explained Edy.

The two tourists who fell were female, with the initials AI (41) injured and FA (49) declared dead by a team of doctors.

The police have installed a police line at the crime scene and contacted the Forensic Laboratory which is currently on its way from Semarang to Banyumas. In addition, the police will also cooperate with a number of experts to find out the feasibility of the glass bridge.

"We will also conduct examinations and investigations on managers and so on including witnesses. Currently we are still processing the crime scene," said Edy.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness named Sararto said that after getting off the minibus, the tourist group first went to the toilet before trying out the glass bridge ride.

"After they entered the glass bridge, suddenly there was a sound of broken glass. When I looked at it, it turned out that two people had fallen and two other people, thank God, were still able to hold on to iron," said Sanarto, who is a public toilet guard near the ill-fated glass bridge.

According to him, workers at the tourist attraction immediately helped two tourists who fell from the 10-meter height.
