Deadly Duel After Alcohol Party, Man In Jeneponto, South Sulawesi Died Covered In Blood

A deadly duel occurred in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel). As a result of slashing each other using the machete, one person died covered in blood. The two men who were involved in the deadly duel had previously together drank traditional ballo-type alcohol.

From the amateur video received, it appears that the two men were embraced by the residents who intervened them. Both of them were covered in blood due to being involved in a fight to each other's slashing in the middle of a rice field in Tuju Village, Bangkala District, Jeneponto Regency.

Bangkala Police Chief, Iptu Kaharuddin, confirmed the incident of the deadly duel. The two men named Sannai (38) and Bazing (44) were injured in the head and suffered severe bleeding.

However, Sannai died even though he was taken to the Bulu Doang Health Center. Meanwhile, Bakaring was referred to the Padjonga Daeng Ngalle Regional General Hospital (RSUD) and is now being held at the Takalar Police Headquarters.

Iptu Kaharuddin revealed that the deadly duel took place on Sunday afternoon. The fatal duel was sparked by a dispute when the perpetrator and victim of a drinking party at a resident's house.

"Bakaring fight with Sannai then can be separated. Everything disbanded and each returned to his home," explained Iptu Kaharuddin, Monday, October 23.

Even though they were separated, Bazing, who was still emotional, returned to meet Sannai. By riding a motorcycle, Bazing came to Sannai's house while carrying a machete. The two then chased each other to the rice fields.

"Bakaring using a motorbike to Sannai's house immediately crashed into his motorbike and then a fight broke out," said Iptu Kaharuddin.

Despite winning the duel, Bakaring is now being held at the Jeneponto Police Headquarters by being charged with Article 351 paragraph (3) subsidiary to Article 338 of the Criminal Code.

"The threat of a sentence of more than 5 years," he concluded.
