UN: Declaration Of Prabowo-Gibran Is Just A Matter Of Time

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that the declaration of the presidential candidate pair (candidate) and vice presidential candidate (cawapres), Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is just a matter of time. All parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) he said had agreed to pair the two.

"Yes (it's just a matter of time, ed) accompanied by a non-formal meeting," said Yusril when contacted by reporters, Saturday, October 21.

Yusril did not know when the meeting would be held to ratify the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

"I don't know when the meeting will be but of course, the Advanced Indonesia Coalition meeting will soon be to ratify this candidacy," he said.

The constitutional law expert also said that Prabowo Subianto had agreed on a decision. "Including Golkar today to nominate Mr. Gibran," said Yusril.

"If the UN nominates it tentatively. Nominates me and nominates Mr. Gibran and because Mr. Gibran has been elected, yes, we will maintain solidity from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition," he continued.

Previously reported, Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto stated that his party agreed to propose Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). This agreement was taken after the internal party held a meeting on Friday night, October 20.

This was conveyed by Airlangga at the Golkar Party National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) which was attended by the General Chair of the Gerindra Party as well as a presidential candidate from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, Prabowo Subianto on Saturday, October 21.

Prabowo then praised Airlangga Hartarto, who was willing to carry Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate. Even though the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Prabowo, called him worthy to run in the presidential election.

"I worked closely with him for 4 years. I saw his achievements, I saw his appearance at a critical time, I am not a handyman, I saw him as one of the best sons of the Indonesian nation," Prabowo said at the Golkar rapid, Saturday, October 21.

"He has a great brain, technology, has extraordinary vision, and actually I really see how big Golkar and Pak Airlangga have a big heart. I think he actually deserves to be a vice presidential candidate, but for the sake of big interests, for the sake of the national interest, today's people show that a great soul does not think group, does not think ego, thinks of the interests of the Indonesian nation," said Prabowo.
