JAKARTA - Tengku Zulkarnain opened his voice regarding the death of Ustadz Maaher At Thuwailibi alias Soni Ernata at the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center yesterday.

Maaher died when he was undergoing a legal case related to alleged hate speech via his personal twitter account @ustadzmaheer_. He was suspected of insulting Habib Lutfi bin Yahya.

At present, the trial against Maaher has not yet been held. However, according to Tengku, the trial of Maaher's case will be held in the afterlife.

Tengku regretted that the police were reluctant to explain the cause of Maaher's death at the Bareskrim Polri Detention Center.

"Ustaz Maher Thuwailibi died in police custody before being transferred to the prosecutor's custody. The police have not yet explained what illness or death caused him in detail. In the afterlife everything will be explained in the Court of Allah. Allah is Just," he said.

Maaher passed away at around 19.30 WIB yesterday. Maaher was buried in Yusuf Mansyur's Darul Qur'an Pesantren.

Maaher's attorney, Juju Purwantoro said, Maaher died because of the illness he suffered. He said that Maaher had previously been treated at the National Police hospital, Kramatjati, East Jakarta for five days.

"About two weeks ago he had just returned from the Kramatjati Police Hospital for about 5 days," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, stated that he could not convey the illness suffered by Ustaz Maaher At-Tahuwailibi alias Soni Ernata. Ustaz Maaher died at the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center.
