PDIP: During Campaign, Ganjar Will Stay In Residents' Houses

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) of Struggle has compiled a style and technical implementation of the campaign agenda for the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo in welcoming the agenda of the 2024 presidential election by staying at people's homes.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that the campaign style selection was aimed at getting Ganjar to merge further with the people.

"Pak Ganjar Pranowo's campaign will be very unique because he will live in people's homes," said Hasto during the 2024 Election Legislative and Presidential Election Winning Coordination Meeting for DPR RI Candidates and Regional Heads/Deputy Heads of Regions throughout East Java in Surabaya, quoted from Antara, Saturday, October 14.

Hasto also said that the direction of the campaign must also be followed up with political work steps for cadres at all internal structural levels of the party.

In fact, he likens the winning steps in the 2024 presidential election to the same as welcoming a marathon event.

"This is like a marathon run. We are excited to run to build changes in Indonesia, accelerate the progress of Indonesia Raya, continue Pak Jokowi's leadership," he said.

Hasto is optimistic that this method will be able to lead Ganjar Pranowo and the PDI-P to win the political constellation next year.

He said that the PDI-P is ready to move hand in hand with volunteers and three supporting parties, namely the United Development Party (PPP), Hanura, and Perindo.

"Politics is driven by good intentions, not the lust for power, but is inspired by the spirit of people's movement, then displays the identity of the leader who is united with the power of the people, and it is in Pak Ganjar," he said.

Present at the event were a number of internal party figures such as PDI-P DPP Chairman Ahmad Basarah, DPR RI member Puti Guntur Soekarno, and East Java PDI-P DPD Secretary Sri Untani.

A number of regional heads from the PDI-P were also present, such as Hanindhito Himawan, Mochamad Nur Arifin, and Indah Raya.

The Indonesian KPU has scheduled the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates from 19 to 25 October 2023.

In Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu) it is stated that pairs of presidential/vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
