School Security Systems Need To Be Payed Attention To Following The Death Of 2 Students Falling From The High School Building

JAKARTA Evaluation of the security system of schools in DKI Jakarta needs to be done to prevent students (students) from falling from the top floor of the school building. This was said by children observer and education Retno Listyarti.

Regarding the case of the death of a student of SMP Negeri 132 Cengkareng who fell from the fourth floor of the school building on Monday, October 9, Retno said that the security in the classroom window on the school's upper floor is one aspect that needs to be evaluated.

"In the future, there needs to be an evaluation related to window security, for example, by installing iron trellis so that no students can get out of the window," said Retno in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

He said schools also need to install surveillance cameras (CCTV) which can make it easier for picket teachers to monitor security in schools, especially regarding the condition of classes during rest hours.

Even so, supervisory television should not be placed in the principal's room because picket teachers may feel reluctant if they have to enter the principal's room. Moreover, school principals often receive guests.

Retno suggested that supervisory television be placed in another space, such as the administrative space.

"This is so that picket teachers or educators and education personnel can participate in monitoring vulnerable situations in schools," he said.

In addition to the safety evaluation, Retno also highlighted the importance of psychosocial services being provided to students, especially for junior high school IX students who have a lot of pressure.

He said, although mental health is as important as physical health, most parents currently lack attention to their children's mental health

"In this case, the Education Office can cooperate with the local Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service," he said.

Kapolsek Cengkareng, Kompol Hasoloan Situmorang on Wednesday, October 11, said that his party concluded that the reason why SMPN 132 Cengkareng students fell from the fourth floor of the school building to death was a result of slipping from the window used by the victim and his friends to get out.

Thus, said Hasoloan, the case was purely an accident and not a result of bullying, suicide, or being pushed by a friend.

Not long ago, a grade VI student died after falling from the 4th floor of the school building at SDN 06, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. The victim had received treatment at Fatmawati Hospital, South Jakarta.

Pesanggrahan Police Chief Kompol Tedjo Asmoro said the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 26. Witness who is also a student at SDN 06 Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta told of the moments, SR jumped from the 4th floor of the school building until he finally died.

The unnamed witness said that before SR jumped from a height, he saw the victim fighting with other students at the school.

The witness explained that he saw SR and his friend doing an expansion activity on the bottom floor of his school. He saw the victim having an argument with a male student at the school.

"Maybe he didn't accept being pushed. The man pushed him. Then at 07.30 WIB. I thought he wanted to stand on the table. Get out of the balcony and move aside to the middle," said the witness in a video recording seen Wednesday, September 27.

Not long after, the victim stretched his hands like a film. Then he jumped from the 4th floor of his school.

"He stretched his hands (the style of fighting). Then he jumped after it hit the wall, he immediately fell down," he said.

The South Jakarta Metro Police conducted a crime scene (TKP) to uncover this incident.

The police found evidence in the form of a chair used by the victim to climb and jump from the 4th floor of his school.
