Air Temperature Reaches 35.6 Degrees Celsius, Weather In Bandung Enters Extreme Category

BANDUNG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Bandung Geophysics Station said that in early October, the weather in the City of Kembang was already in the extreme category.

BMKG Bandung Weather Forecaster Yan Firdaus said the weather in Bandung was already in the extreme category. Because, on Sunday (8/10) the temperature has reached 35.6 degrees Celsius.

"This has entered the extreme because it has passed three degrees. How long? This certainly depends on the dry season that is happening now," Yan said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.

Yan explained that the figure was three degrees Celsius higher than the end of September which ranged from 30.3 degrees Celsius.

Based on data from the Bandung City BMKG, the temperature in the area in the past week has increased. Starting from October 2 there were 33.1 degrees to October 8, 2023, which reached 35.6 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Head of BMKG Bandung, Teguh Rahayu, explained that the definition of extreme air temperature is air conditions that reach three degrees Celsius or above the local normal value.

"Thus, the maximum extreme temperature in October has occurred on October 1, 3, 6, 7, and 8. To date, extreme maximum temperatures have not occurred again in the city of Bandung," he said.

Teguh said the weather was hot during the day and strong winds during the afternoon and evening were weather conditions that usually occur at the peak of the dry season.

"So people are advised not to panic, but to prepare themselves to reduce disaster risk, such as using sunscreen if they often carry out outdoor activities during the day," he said.
