Secretary General Of Gerindra: Samawi Volunteer Declaration To Prabowo Forms Jokowi's Support

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani assessed that the declaration of the volunteers for the Jokowi Young Ulama Solidarity (Samawi) to Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election is a form of support from President Jokowi.

"I consider it (Samawi's decision) as support (President Jokowi)," said Muzani, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.

According to him, the support given by Samawi to Prabowo Subianto was because the figure considered the most capable of continuing the leadership line of President Joko Widodo.

"They declared support and also proposed the name Mas Gibran as a candidate for vice president as a companion," he said.

Muzani said all the names of the vice presidents who entered from various components of the nation such as from figures, coalition parties, volunteers and others were people who wanted to advance the nation.

According to him, the names will be discussed with coalition parties to become joint decisions.

"This name will be submitted on the table with the general chairmen of the coalition parties to be mutually agreed upon," he said.

Previously, the presidential candidate for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Prabowo Subianto stated that the support of the Samawi volunteers increased his enthusiasm to participate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) contestation.

"I feel with Samawi with me, we are able to face challenges, we are able to continue Pak Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s struggle, and we will achieve the ideals of Indonesia Gold 2045," said Prabowo when receiving a declaration of support from Samawi at his residence in South Jakarta, Saturday (7/10).

Prabowo said he was ready to continue President Jokowi's program to create an Indonesia that was respected by other nations, independent, and without poverty if elected in the 2024 presidential election.
