Police Examine 8 Witnesses In The Case Of Embezzlement Of 40 Rental Cars In Bengkulu

Mukomuko Police held a press release regarding the disclosure of the embezzlement case of 40 rental cars, Tuesday (3/10/2023) ANTARA/Ferri.

MUKOMUKO - Mukomuko Police Investigator, Bengkulu, has examined eight witnesses in the criminal case of embezzlement as many as 40 rental cars in this area.

"So far, eight witnesses have been asked for information regarding the case of embezzlement of rental cars," said Mukomuko Police Chief AKBP Nuswanto as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 7.

Nuswanto said this was related to the disclosure of 40 units of rental cars and securing the suspect with the initials MK (24), a resident of Bandar Ratu Village, Mukomuko City District.

A number of witnesses examined in this case include the perpetrators and several people who were victims in the case of embezzlement of this rental car.

From the results of the examination of these eight witnesses, the police confirmed that the perpetrators of the crime in this case were single or committed by one person.

The police have named the sole suspect in the criminal case of embezzlement as many as 40 rental cars in this area.

Nuswanto explained that the criminal case of embezzlement of rental cars was revealed because the vehicle rental installments from Bengkulu City were jammed and some were not paid by the suspect.

In early May 2023, the suspect began establishing the business of "Rhido Indah Jaya", a business of buying and selling used cars in Ujung Padang Village, Mukomuko City District. In mid-May, the suspect began looking for rental or rental cars in Bengkulu City.

Then, the suspect began offering it to other people through Facebook social media and there was a procurement activity between the suspect and his consumers at a price of Rp. 20 million.

Meanwhile, 14 people were victims of criminal acts of fraud or embezzlement of vehicles consisting of 11 Bengkulu City residents and three residents of Mukomuko Regency.

Meanwhile, the evidence that was successfully secured, he said, was 16 cars and three BRI, Mandiri, BSI, and Bengkulu savings books.

The modus operandi in this case is to borrow or rent and rent a car. After being rented, the suspect commits fraud in vehicle embezzlement, then when it matures, the car unit is returned and what is entrusted will be returned in full.

The suspect is caught in Article 372 subsidiary to Article 378 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code.
