SYL Will Report To The Palace, Jokowi Claims Not To Know

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said he had received information that Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo had been in Indonesia since Wednesday night, October 4. "Yes, I was informed this morning from the State Secretariat," said Jokowi after attending the celebration of the TNI's 78th Anniversary at Monas, Jakarta, Thursday 5 October. Regarding the news that Syahrul Yasin Limpo will meet him on Thursday afternoon at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Jokowi admitted that he had not received this information.

He again asked reporters to ask directly to the State Secretariat whether there was a schedule for the meeting. "Don't know, don't know. Don't know yet. Don't know. Ask the State Secretariat whether the hours are set, (whether) the hours are set. If I haven't, haven't (know)," said Jokowi. Jokowi again asked the media crew not to speculate on the news that Syahrul Yasin Limpo would face Jokowi to resign from his ministerial position. "Don't make assumptions, don't," he said. Previously, Syahrul Yasin Limpo's attorney, Febri Diansyah, said his client would appear before President Jokowi at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday. "I was asked to convey that tomorrow (Thursday), the Minister will go to the Palace before the President (Jokowi)," said Febri Diansyah in Jakarta, Wednesday night.

Febri said the information was after he met his client, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Wednesday night. Syahrul was in NasDem Tower accompanied by his lawyer, Wednesday night, before the General Chair of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh.Febri, who is a former spokesman for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), was reluctant to answer reporters' questions whether the schedule for the meeting was Syahrul and Jokowi regarding plans to resign from the post of minister. Febri confirmed that Syahrul, who is suspected of being involved in the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture, would face and cooperate in undergoing legal proceedings at the KPK.
