JAKARTA - It is precisely called friends eating friends. Because they are tempted by large profits without having to work hard, friends of the same profession have become targets of fraud with a fictional business mode.

This case occurred in Malang City, East Java. RH (43), who works as a dangdut singer daily, has the heart to deceive 3 of his colleagues with a total loss of hundreds of millions of rupiah.

Kapolres Malang AKBP Hendri Umar said the mode used by RH actors was to offer fictitious businesses engaged in tobacco and white sugar.

"They are friends, together with dangdut singers in Malang Regency. There are currently three victims, the loss reached IDR 450 million," said Hendri in Malang Regency, East Java, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 8.

If the victim dares to invest in the business offered by the perpetrator, the benefits are promised to reach 50 percent of the total investment. Investments, continued Hendri, for a period of 14-21 days.

"The profit for 21 days can be 50 percent, if 14 days is below 50 percent. At first the perpetrator had paid the benefits to the victim, and the victim increased her investment," said Hendri.

However, he continued, in the end the perpetrator was unable to pay the benefits to the victims. So that the victim came to the perpetrator, and the perpetrator admitted that he did not have the business as described.

"Between the perpetrator and the victim, they are friends. Close friends, they are both orchestral singers in Malang Regency, so they have known them for a long time," said Hendri.

Each of the victims, he said, namely Dewi Kurniawati deposited Rp.88.5 million, Yuniar Adillar Rp.65 million, and Dewi Wulandari reaching Rp.297 million.

Some of this money was used for the perpetrator's personal gain and lent to other parties. The suspect is subject to Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), with a maximum sentence of four years in prison.
