Inspector General Napoleon Talks About Three-Star Increase If Joko Tjandra Is Arrested

JAKARTA - Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte talked about a promotion if he succeeded in arresting Joko Tjandra when he was still a fugitive for the transfer of the right to collect (cessie) Bank Bali.

Inspector General Napoleon made this statement while undergoing examination as a defendant in a case of alleged red notice removal bribery.

All statements from Inspector General Napoleon began when the public prosecutor (JPU) asked the police why the National Police did not coordinate with the Attorney General's Office (AGO) regarding the behavior of Joko Tjandra's wife Anna Boentaran about red notice.

"Regarding the information on the existence of a fugitive, what motivates or motivates you not to provide this important information that there is a movement from a family asking to remove red notice status to the Attorney General?" asked the prosecutor during his trial at the Corruption Court, Monday, February 8.

"Nothing. If I found out he was coming, I would arrest him. Going up my career, maybe now a three star," said Napoleon.

Apart from that, Napoleon also mentioned that all the problems regarding Joko Tjandra's red notice began when NCB Interpol Indonesia sent a letter to the Attorney General's Office on April 14, 2020. The letter was sent regarding the extension period of Joko Tjandra's red notice status which had expired in five years. Napoleon did not accept that he was called the main player in the case.

"This problem started with the initiation of NCB Interpol writing to the Prosecutor's Office, whether Joko Tjandra still needs status. Without the April 14 letter, everyone knows Joko Tjandra's status is everywhere, everything is silent, which then rolls here and there," explained Napoleon .

"The main player is NCB Interpol," he continued.

In the case of alleged bribery for the removal of red notice, investigators named four people as suspects. They act as recipients and givers.

Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo were named as suspects because they were suspected of being the recipients of bribes for the removal of red notice. Meanwhile, Tommy Sumardi and Djoko Tjandra were named as suspects on suspicion of giving bribes.

Joko Tjandra was charged with paying SGD200 thousand and USD270 thousand to Inspector General Napoleon and USD 150 thousand to Brigadier General Prasetijo.
