Survey Indicators: The Level Of Public Satisfaction With Jokowi's Performance Decreased

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Political Indicators survey institute released survey results regarding the level of public satisfaction with President Joko Widodo's performance.

Executive Director of Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi explained that there was a decrease in the level of satisfaction with Jokowi's performance.

In February 2021, Jokowi's satisfaction rate was 62.9 percent. This figure decreased from September 2020 to 68.3 percent. In fact, the level of satisfaction in this month is the lowest since June 2016.

"Although it is not very significant, the level of satisfaction with the President has fallen from 68.3 percent to 62.9 percent", said Burhanuddin in a virtual presentation of the survey, Monday, February 8.

Even though it has decreased, there are still many people loyal to Jokowi during the last three years which are always above 50 percent of the total respondents. However, the satisfaction of some of Jokowi's partisans has decreased.

Burhanuddin said Jokowi's supporters in the 219 presidential elections tended to be satisfied with the president's performance, but Prabowo Subianto's supporters tended to be dissatisfied, even though Prabowo was already part of the government.

"If this is not anticipated by the President, it could be an alarm because some of his loyal supporters have begun to shift", he said.

For information, this survey was conducted in the period 1 to 3 February 2021. The survey was conducted through telephone interviews with 1,200 respondents who were randomly selected from a sample of respondents in the survey since 2018.

The margin of error for this survey is estimated at 2.9 percent and the survey's confidence level is 95 percent.
