Moeldoko Attends PSMTI Anniversary, Diversity Is A National Power

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff, Dr. Moeldoko attended the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Indonesian Chinese Wildlife Social Association (PSMTI) located in the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) area, East Jakarta, October 2.

Moeldoko said that the government has committed to carrying out cultural advances. One of them has been stated in a law, namely Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning the Advancement of Culture

Moeldoko emphasized that the government recognizes various cultures in Indonesia, which are aimed at national unity and integrity. "In the future there will be no more minorities," he said.

On this occasion, Moeldoko appreciated the presence of community organizations such as PSMTI which is a liaison between the government and the wider community, especially for conveying aspirations that affect the making of government policies. Especially with the age of 25 years of PSMTI, it is hoped that in the future it will always contribute to the government. Furthermore, Moeldoko mentioned that contributions to the nation and state are important to pay attention to by each organization. Moeldoko gave an example of one of the Indonesian fighters of Chinese descent, Rear Admiral TNI (Ret.) John Lie who is so persistent in fighting for the homeland. "You can become a civil servant, you could be a TNI, or participate in the political process, this space is open to all regardless of race or ethnicity," he said.

Furthermore, Moeldoko conveyed the existence of the Endowment of Culture Fund which is also called the Indonesian Fund. This is the government's effort to support various cultural events in Indonesia. Thus, creative ideas that are oriented towards cultural promotion can be facilitated properly by the government. "The government has allocated 5T for this servant fund, so this is a very good opportunity to use it," he concluded.
