KPK Threatens To Snare Parties That Block Investigation Of Cases Of Alleged Corruption Of The Ministry Of Agriculture

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminds anyone who tries to prevent investigators from investigating allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

The reason is that there are parties suspected of trying to destroy evidence in the form of evidence of the flow of money.

"We remind those who are within the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture and other related parties not to obstruct or obstruct the investigation process from the KPK investigating team," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Sunday, October 1.

Ali said anyone caught obstructing the investigation would be charged with the law. "We can apply the provisions of Article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law to various parties in question," he said.

The article 21 of the Anti-Corruption Law reads:

"Everyone who deliberately prevents, obstructs, or thwarts directly or indirectly the investigation, prosecution, and examination at trial of the suspect and defendant or witness in a corruption case shall be punished with a minimum imprisonment of three years and a maximum of 12 years and/or a fine of at least Rp. 150 million and a maximum of Rp. 600 million."

Previously reported, the KPK raised the status of alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to investigation. The KPK team has searched the official residence of Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo at Widya Chandra, South Jakarta.

During the search, tens of billions of rupiah and firearms were found in the form of a gun.

The KPK said the investigators would analyze the findings of the money for confiscation. Meanwhile, firearms will be taken care of by the police.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission did not want to talk about the determination of Syahrul as a suspect even though various reports said so.

This institution stated that the announcement would be made together with forced detention efforts.

Then, investigators have searched the Ministry of Agriculture's Office. As a result, documents allegedly related to the corruption case are being handled.
