Gibran Enters Prabowo's Vice Presidential Exchange, Puan: Do You Want It?

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani admitted that there was no problem with her cadre, Gibran Rakabuming Raka was tempted to become a candidate for vice president (cawapres) Prabowo Subianto.

This was conveyed by him in response to the temptation that the Gerindra Party often presents against President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) eldest son. Puan said, each party has considerations but the mayor of Solo will finally decide.

"Yes, it's the one who proposes to have certain considerations. Only those who are proposed whether they want it or not. That's all. Just assuming this," said Puan during the PDIP National Working Meeting at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Saturday, September 30.

Gibran as a young person, continued Puan, is indeed one of the candidates to be considered as a vice presidential candidate. Moreover, he has achievements as a regional head.

According to Puan, Gibran as a young person is indeed a candidate who should be considered as a vice presidential candidate. The chairman of the DPR RI assesses that Gibran has achievements as a regional head.

"Yes, it's okay, young people have shown their achievements in Solo and one of the candidates who may be considered," he said.

"So, don't look at young people old or later men or women. Everyone has the same opportunity to be able to progress and fight in contestation," continued Puan.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, said that he would be the ideal vice presidential candidate if he was paired with presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. Although, he is considered lack of experience.

"Regarding the figure of Vice President, Mr. Prabowo, I think it is no secret that Mas Gibran is one of the candidates for vice president," said Hashim in Surabaya, Friday, September 29.

"Is he ideal, ideal vice presidential candidate? I think this all depends on the decision of the Constitutional Court (Mahkamah Konstitusi) that we all look forward to. But, I think it's all ideal," continued Hashim.
