Kaesang Pangarep: Entering The Political Inspiration Of My Own Father

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep revealed that his decision to enter politics was inspired by the footsteps of his father, President Joko Widodo.

This was conveyed by Kaesang in PSI National Land Coffee (Kopdarnas) which ratified him as chairman of the party.

"Frankly, I entered politics, one of the inspirations, my own father," said Kaesang at Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 25.

Seeing Jokowi's track record departing from the position of Mayor of Solo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, to the President through the PDIP support, Kaesang saw that he also has the potential to do politics like his father.

Kaesang also asked Jokowi for permission when he decided to join the party bearing the rose symbol.

"He is a person who I really love and really respect, I want to follow in his footsteps in politics for good. To my father, I want to convey, my permission to take my path, sir. May Gusti Allah bless this path I choose," said Kaesang.

Kaesang mentioned that many parties, especially the younger generation, were surprised by his decision.

Kaesang realized that not a few young groups were quite apathy to politics and were even considered central to corruption, political money, and so on. However, Kaesang claims to want to bring the political direction properly so that the apathy can be lost.

"I want my generation to be more involved in public affairs. I believe that getting into politics is one of the best ways for young people to save the future," he explained.

Kaesan joined PSI marked by the submission of party membership cards (KTA) to Kaesang by PSI General Chair Giring Ganesha, in front of President Jokowi's private residence on Jalan Kutai Utara Number 1, Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo City, Central Java, on Saturday, September 23.

In addition to the inauguration of Kaesang as General Chair, PSI also appointed Giring Ganesha and Isyana Bagoes Oka as members of the PSI Board of Trustees.

Then, the position of Secretary General (Secretary General) of PSI is now again filled by King Juli Antoni. The King of July previously also served as Secretary General of PSI before becoming Secretary of the PSI Board of Trustees.
