Ahead of the Fourth National Working Meeting, PDIP Says Food Management is More Important Than Discussing Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) hopes that the Fourth National Working Meeting (Rakernas) which will be held from Friday, September 29 to Sunday, October 1 can provide wider benefits. They don't want this activity to only end up discussing the presidential candidates (capres) and their deputies.

This was conveyed by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto when opening a discussion with the theme 'Development of Food from the Sea to Realize Food Sovereignty and Sustainable People's Welfare' today, Monday, September 25.

"It is hoped that the IV National Working Meeting will be of benefit to the Indonesian people and there, PDI Perjuangan offers a narrative about the future which is far more important than individual people as to who will be the presidential or vice presidential candidate," said Hasto in his speech opening the discussion at the PDIP DPP Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Hasto said that it is hoped that the Fourth National Working Meeting will be a sign that the presidential and vice-presidential candidates are ready to bring concepts for the progress of the country. Because, without clear thinking, this means that the figure only cares about the electoral system.

Moreover, if the presidential and vice presidential candidates are only good at playing with words. "We are not like that. We are building a Greater Indonesia by strengthening political parties that are allied with science, research and technology. That is the narrative we are offering," he stressed.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Hasto mentioned that the issue of food has not yet become a main topic of discussion in Indonesia. In fact, this concerns the dignity of the nation.

Then, he also reminded that Indonesia is a maritime country where the sea should be the way to the future and prosperity because of its many benefits.

"That's why, PDI Perjuangan through the Fourth National Working Meeting, took the theme 'Food Sovereignty for People's Welfare' and the sub-theme 'Food is a Symbol of Indonesian Leadership Supremacy for the World. So, let's go to food'," said Hasto.

"Let's strengthen the sea and land, and we do it by shaking upstream and downstream so that we as a nation are truly dignified because we use farmers as our most basic philosophy," he continued.

In this discussion, the Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Dr. Ir. Budi Sulistyo; Head of Marine Biotechnology Division, Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies IPB Dr. Kustiyariyah Tarman; and President Director of Indonesian Fisheries Ir. Sigit Muhartono.

The activity was also attended by the Chairman of the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP), including Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Ribka Tjiptaning, and Mindo Sianipar. Next, there are also members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the PDIP faction, including Sudin, Ihsan Yunus, Rahmad Handoyo, and Riezky Aprilia.
