BENGKULU - Bengkulu Police arrested two perpetrators of theft by asking for address and carrying out the action at 15 crime scenes (TKP).

The two perpetrators are MB (25) a resident of Kebun Kenanga Village and TE (24) a resident of Padang Serai Village, Bengkulu City.

"The two perpetrators have deeply disturbed the residents of Bengkulu City with several violent acts of robbery or theft, especially the targets are women, weak victims and victims who are careless," said Head of the Gading Cempaka Police, Bengkulu City, Kompol Kadek Suswantoro, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 23.

The two perpetrators were arrested after committing theft in Padang Harapan Village against NA (20), a resident of Empat Lawang Regency, South Sumatra.

As a result of the actions of the two perpetrators, the victim lost a cellphone unit worth Rp. 4 million and reported the incident to the Gading Cempaka Police, Bengkulu City.

"Receiving this information, the police immediately collected information and the two perpetrators were arrested by the Gading Cempaka Police Opsnal Team, Bengkulu City," he said.

Based on the confessions of the two perpetrators, the theft was carried out at 15 crime scenes by snatching cellphones, then the cellphone was sold on social media forums and the results were used for daily needs.

"From the catch of the case they managed to reveal, the perpetrator acted in pairs, namely one perpetrator was tasked with executing the victim and another perpetrator was tasked with getting ready on the motorbike," he said.

Furthermore, the perpetrator will conduct surveillance of the victim who is holding a cellphone and is alone at home, then the perpetrator who rides a motorcycle will park in front of the victim's house and the perpetrator who rides will get off the motorbike.

"The perpetrator who came down will then call the victim to get closer, with the mode of wanting to ask for the address, after the victim approached, the perpetrator quickly took the victim's cellphone," explained Kadek.

For their actions, the two perpetrators are threatened with Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding criminal acts of violent laundering with a maximum imprisonment of nine years.
