Slapping Police, British Foreigners Deported By Bali Immigration Office

DENPASAR - A foreign national (WNA) from England, Adam Alexander Murray, was deported by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bali. He was sent back to his country after previously slapping police officers during traffic violations.

Head of Immigration Ngurah Rai, Sugito, said that the deportation was carried out on the recommendation of the police.

"Based on a letter of recommendation from the police, we have deported AAM," said Sugito in Denpasar, Saturday, September 23.

Murray was arrested by the police on Tuesday, September 19, in the tourist area of Canggu, North Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali. He was then brought to the court to account for his acts of violence against the police.

Based on the Light Crimes (Tipiring) trial on September 22, 2023 at the Denpasar District Court, Adam was sentenced to one month in prison with a probationary period of three months.

During the trial, Adam was charged with Article 352 of the Criminal Code regarding minor crimes.

After receiving the court's decision, Adam was immediately handed over from the Denpasar Police to Immigration Ngurah Rai for the deportation process.

Shortly after receiving the verdict, Adam then left Bali on the Qatar Airways airline on the Denpasar-Doha route which was then followed by Doha-Frankfurt and Frankfurt-London.

Based on immigration crossing data, Adam entered Indonesian territory on August 13, 2023 through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport using Visa on Arrival (VoA).

Immigration Ngurah Rai imposed Article 75 paragraph 1 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration as the basis for deportation and Adam will be included in the deterrence list.

In accordance with Article 102 paragraph 1 of the Law, the detention period is a maximum of six months and each time it can be extended for a maximum of six months.

Adam's action against the Denpasar City Police traffic police went viral on social media, which featured video clips of the perpetrator pushing the police.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Police Commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, explained that the incident began when the traffic police took action against the perpetrators for riding another foreigner without wearing a helmet.

Police Member Aiptu Puji Santoso then stopped and asked the perpetrators to pull over near the Sunset Road Traffic Police Post, Kuta District, Badung, as well as check the completeness of the motor vehicle documents driven by the perpetrators.

The perpetrator, who was riding a motorcycle with the police number DK 3085 FCP, was about to run away from the gas, and was successfully dismissed by Aiptu Puji Santoso.

Not accepting being dismissed, the perpetrator was angry and pushed Aiptu Puji until he almost fell down.

"The reported was emotional, got off the motorbike, immediately slapped the victim in the face until the victim's typical hat (police hat) was released and fell," said Jansen.
