Officers Thwart Smuggling Of 600 Grams Of Shabu At Pekanbaru SSK Airport

Joint officers from the Indonesian Air Force, Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force (RSN) and Aviation Security (Avsec) officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle 660 grams of crystal methamphetamine/ANTARA/HO-Humas SSK II Airport.

PEKANBARU - Joint officers from the Indonesian Air Force, Roesmin Nurjadin and Aviation Security, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 660 grams of crystal methamphetamine through the cargo terminal of Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport (SSK) II Pekanbaru, Riau.

"The joint personnel managed to detect 660 grams of crystal methamphetamine while passing through the x-ray parking of cargo items to be loaded through SSK II Airport. Officers were suspicious and after checking the suspected package it turned out to contain methamphetamine. The illicit goods were then immediately secured," said the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Main Base, Mohammad Nurdin, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 21.

Evidence of methamphetamine was then handed over to the Riau Provincial Narcotics National Agency (BNNP) for further investigation, including revealing the owner of the methamphetamine.

This drug trafficking prevention action adds to the success list of BKO personnel (Operation Control Agency) Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base and Avsec SSK II Airport.

It was recorded that during the period January to September 2023, BKOTNI AU personnel at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in collaboration with the Avsec officers at the Pekanbaru SSK II International Airport managed to thwart the shipment of narcotics packages through cargo 12 times, with details of four types of methamphetamine, six types of marijuana and two types of ecstasy pills.

"Therefore, soldiers who receive BKO duties at SSK II Airport must remain vigilant. In addition, soldiers must increase supervision of things that can be used as a means of distributing narcotics and illegal drugs through SSK II Airport," said Nurdin.

"We received directions from the commander to further increase awareness and supervision of all possibilities used by criminals in smuggling drugs through Pekanbaru SSK II Airport," said POM Captain Fani Ludiana as Head of Sub-Silidkrim Silidkrimpfik Satpom Lanud Roesmin Nurjadin while witnessing the submission of evidence to the Riau BNNP Eradication Team.

Fani said that Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base soldiers who are BKO at SSK II Airport must continue to improve coordination and communication with SSK II Airport Avsec officers.

"The goal is to narrow the space for drug smuggling through Pekanbaru SSK II Airport," said Fani.
