SUMSEL - Head of Manggala Agni Daops Sumatra XVII/ OKI Edi Satriawan stated that forest and land fires (karhutla) in Jungkal Ogan Komering Ilir Village (OKI), South Sumatra (Sumsel) were far from residential areas. "The fire in the peatland of Jungkal Village is quite large. However, the hotspots are quite far from the settlements of villagers," he said when confirmed in OKI, Wednesday, September 20, were confiscated by Antara. He added that the source of water to extinguish the fire was also not difficult because there were many water canals that could be reached for a relatively short time around the area experiencing the forest and land. As many as 36 Manggala Agni Daops personnel of Sumatra XVII were deployed at the hotspots from the south side. In addition, a team was also assigned to take care of consumption, monitoring for evaluation, and electricity management.

Manggala Agni Daops Sumatra XVII / OKI also received assistance in the form of a unit of heavy equipment / excavator from the agro Jaya (WAJ) handling team to extinguish the fire. "It means that the fire has reached its bottom, so special techniques are needed to ensure the fire is extinguished and it takes time when we have to make the soil condition full with water and then the fire is declared extinguished," he explained. He hopes that in the future the community can be more aware of the dangers of land clearing through burning. According to him, theoretically forest and land fires that occur in Indonesia, especially South Sumatra, are 99 percent. as a result of the actions of irresponsible persons.
