JAKARTA - The Revolutionary Community Movement (GEMAR) held a peaceful demonstration to reject the United States (US) social organization (ormas) International Republican Institute (IRI) intervention in the 2024 Election in front of the United States Embassy Building.

This action was attended by the community, numbering approximately 30 people. This peaceful action by the Revolutionary Community Movement is not the first but the second time.

Previously, GEMAR held a demonstration in front of the southwest Monas, then continued its demonstration in front of the United States Embassy Building.

Meanwhile, GEMAR emphasized the United States Embassy to immediately respond to the United States Central Intelligence (CIA) and IRI who continue to interfere in politics in Indonesia with certain intentions.

Indications of allegations of foreign interference make it strange in society, even though this has been history since 1966-1999 after the presidential elections of Abdurrahman Wahid and Megawati, foreign parties have always interfered in Indonesian election affairs by bringing their interests into play.

GEMAR Action Coordinator Mustakim, considers this to be very risky in the process of changing leadership in Indonesia.

"It can be said that this could harm the democratic process in Indonesia, because there is too much intervention from foreign parties, especially since it is suspected that foreign funding has been supported by political parties and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)," said Mustakim, Tuesday September 19.

Mustakim said that the election process in Indonesia must be independent and free of foreign interference, so that democracy in Indonesia is maintained in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.

Continuing, Mustakim said that the election process in Indonesia must be neutral and there should be no negotiations in the election of leaders in Indonesia, GEMAR rejects all forms of foreign interference and there should be no foreign interference in the democratic process in Indonesia, because this will actually harm democratic values.

"We suspect that this is a form of violation of the code of ethics in the 2024 election process in which the determination of the leadership candidates in Indonesia has not yet been announced. We strongly condemn policy makers for stopping the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and IRI from operating in Indonesia," said Mustakim.

He said, there needs to be supervision from the government and the community in supervising all activities related to the 2024 Election, and the government must be able to consolidate all elements of society to be able to be involved in the 2024 Election process and create meaningful participation.
