'Nothing Has Been Taken Out, Everything Is Inside' Said Commissioner Komarudin Regarding Historical Objects in the National Museum

JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Komarudin, said that the joint team needed a very long time to set aside items and move historical objects to a temporary storage room from the burning National Museum.

"So we have moved the rescued (collections and historical objects) to a temporary room," said Commissioner Komarudin to reporters, Tuesday, September 19.

The police also limit any activity inside the burning object. Because, at the location of the fire, there are many very valuable historical items that must be secured.

"This is part of the security concept that we have prepared. We ensure that the items in the 6 rooms are there and have not been stolen. We continue to provide diary assistance to the stages of the team entering the crime scene. We accompany them, we identify every finding, we take photos, we monitor their movement from the crime scene. "So we will assist you in the entire process," he said.

Commissioner Komarudin further detailed that the collection and objects from the four burned rooms were moved to a temporary storage room in the National Museum of Indonesia area.

"Nothing was taken out, everything was inside. After leaving the crime scene, these items were handed over to a team of conservators. These conservators are the ones who work on it, for example, if something is broken, the pieces will be put together, the broken pieces will form a target. achievement of the number of existing objects," he said.

As previously reported, Acting Head of the Public Services Agency for Museums and Cultural Heritage (BLU MCB), Ahmad Mahendra, explained that overall, the total collection and historical objects stored at the National Museum of Indonesia were 194 thousand collections.

"There are 817 collections on display and they are in six rooms affected by the fire. The collection objects are made from bronze, ceramics, terracotta, wood and a collection of miniatures and replicas of prehistoric objects. The collections were found in intact condition, with light to heavy damage," said Mahendra in a statement officially received by VOI, Tuesday, September 19.

Mahendra further said that the Museum and Cultural Heritage is committed to providing details regarding the list of affected collections, steps for handling and restoring further collections after the results of the official investigation are obtained from the National Police Pusiablor.
