Minister Of Religion Proposes Installment Scheme To Light The Repayment Of Hajj Fees

Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas proposed an installment scheme during the payment of Hajj fees to ease the burden on pilgrims who will depart for the Hajj season 1445 Hijri/2024.

"We propose a payment installment formula so that prospective pilgrims are not too heavy," said Minister of Religion Yaqut while attending the closing of the National Conference and NU Konbes in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

At the previous Hajj, the payment was carried out after the determination of the Hajj Travel Fee (Bipih). The repayment scheme is carried out in one payment.

However, this time, Minister of Religion Yaqut suggested that the payment scheme be changed. Pilgrims of Hajj candidates can repay until the deadline given.

"Yesterday, it had to be paid off immediately. Now, it is allowed to make installments so that they are a bit light when making repayments," said Yaqut.

This proposal will be brought to a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR. The plan is that on September 27, 2023, the Hajj financial evaluation will be carried out with Commission VIII of the DPR.

"Then God willing, in mid-October, the discussion will begin for the implementation of the Hajj next year," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and Commission VIII of the DPR immediately formed a Working Committee for the Cost of Organizing Hajj (BPIH) in 1445 Hijri/2024.

Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Ashabul Kahfi, said that Commission VIII of the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Religion will form the BPIH Working Committee for 1445 Hijri/2024 no later than the end of September 2023.

In addition to agreeing on the plan to form the BPIH Working Committee, the Ministry of Religion's working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI agreed on the need to provide facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of services that are elderly in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.
