Acting Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Ayodhia GL, Kalake, reviewed the implementation of school entry at 05.30 am for public high school students in Kupang City, which was implemented by the NTT Education Office during the leadership of former NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in March 2023.

"We will immediately review the policy. We will immediately stop the policy," he said after attending the plenary session of the NTT DPRD in Kupang as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

He said that according to the plan, the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government began to stop entering schools at 05.30 am for high school students in Kupang City starting Wednesday (20/9).

"Tomorrow, Wednesday (20/9) we will immediately issue a letter of decision to stop school entry activities at 05.30 WITA for students," he emphasized.

In a joint meeting with the leaders of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the scope of the NTT Provincial Government, they reminded the Head of the Education Office.

"We will have a dialogue with teachers and students in schools that are currently still enforcing school entry for students/students at 5 am, we have reminded the Head of the Education Office to review the policy," he said.

Ayodhia GL emphasized that the Provincial Government is studying the high school education system in a number of countries, namely Finland, Japan and Germany, which have the best education systems in the world.

Previously, the Gerindra faction of the DPRD in its general view urged the NTT Provincial Government to immediately review the implementation of school entry at 05.30 am in 10 schools that had implemented the regulation.

Fraksi Gerindra menilai penerapan masuk sekolah jam 5.30 WITA selain melanggar hak-hak anak juga tidak melalui kajian sehingga muncul berbagai pro kontra dalam masyarakat.
