JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion and Commission VIII of the DPR RI will soon form a Working Committee for the Cost of Organizing Hajj (BPIH) in 1445 Hijri/2024 AD.
Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI Ashabul Kahfi said that BPIH was formed no later than the end of September 2023.
In addition to agreeing on the plan to form the BPIH Working Committee, in a working meeting of the Ministry of Religion with Commission VIII of the DPR RI on Monday also agreed on the need to provide facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of services that are elderly in the implementation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage.
Ashabul said that the government also needs to ensure the application of istitiah requirements in the implementation of the pilgrimage by conducting examinations on prospective hajj candidates before paying off the cost of the pilgrimage.
"The House of Representatives Commission VIII asked the government to review the details of cooperation contracts with Hajj service providers and improve consumption services for Indonesian pilgrims," Ashabul was quoted as saying in a press release by the Ministry of Religion in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, September 19.
Ashabul said that the government also needs to improve transportation services for Indonesian pilgrims in the Holy Land, increase the quota of Hajj services for domestic airlines, and review proposals to shorten the stay of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that the government was preparing to improve services based on the results of studies and evaluations of the implementation of services for Indonesian pilgrims the previous year.
"We are also formulating an emergency step model together with the Saudi side," he said.
