JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is committed to fully supporting efforts to extinguish the fire with water bombings or water bomb attacks to help the process of extinguishing the fire piles of Putri Cempo waste in Solo, Central Java.
"We (BNPB) have received a request from Central Java, especially Surakarta City, to help extinguish the air or water bombing for the Cempo Putri TPA fire. Of course we will support anything related to the handling of forest and land fires or other events in Indonesia," said Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB, Fajar Setyawan, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.
Fajar said that this dry season is very prone to land, forest, and garbage fires, as previously happened at the Sarimukti TPA and those in Cirebon some time ago.
Fajar also appealed to all stakeholders to continue to be vigilant with other factors that trigger forest and land fires and the like, considering that this year's dry season is expected to continue for some time to come.
Efforts such as routine monitoring and patrols, he continued, in areas prone to fires are important. In addition, Fajar also invited all elements involved to continue to coordinate in efforts to control and accelerate disaster emergency management in the country.
