Fish Auction Places In Kulon Progo Are Expected To Be Able To Attract Tourists

JAKARTA - The Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, has built a hygienic, economical, clean, safe and orderly Fish Auction Place (TPI HEBAT) with buildings that are characteristic of culture and tourism-based.

Head of the Kulon Progo Marine and Fisheries Service (DKP), Trenggono in Kulon Progo, Sunday, said the TPI HEBAT program began this year at Congot Beach, Jangkaran.

"The HEBAT TPI has a function as a place to auction fish, fish marketing venues, fish processing sites, culinary fish, places of worship, sports facilities and fishing gathering places in one area in the form of Javanese buildings in the form of joglo and limasan and tourism-based, because they are able to support tourist destinations and are expected to increase the number of tourists," Trenggono said, quoting Antara, Sunday, September 17.

He said TPI is one of the main facilities in post-fish fishing activities at sea. Catched fish can be sold in the same location, at a more competitive price.

Kulon Progo Regency itself in accordance with the Decree of the Regent of Kulon Progo Number 32 of 2008 has determined four TPI locations, namely TPI Congot, TPI Karangwuni, TPI Bugel, and TPI Trisik.

However, the condition of the Fish Auction Place in Kulon Progo Regency still looks shabby, and is damaged due to age and exposure to beach abrasion.

"For that, we are developing TPI HEBAT," he said.

Trenggono said that the big program of the Kulon Progo Regency Marine and Fisheries Service, namely the Building Movement with the Spirit of Mutual Cooperation (Gerbang Segoro), has TPI HEBAT activities as one of the main activities to increase the income of fishing communities.

"DKP Kulon Progo is also ready to facilitate fishing facilities, facilities for monitoring fishery resources, fish cultivation facilities as well as fish processing and marketing facilities," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Kulon Progo DPRD, Akhid Nuryati, advised the fishing community and processing groups and marketers to prepare for the management of the HEBAT TPI, especially since the building is located in tourist attractions, the management must also be great, with one of the keys is to pay attention to the cleanliness of the location. Don't look shabby, dirty and smells anymore.

"People must be ready to clean up, the economy will continue to move, even though the waves are high, with increased fishing capacity such as PMT motorcycle workshop skills, patching skills or boat lamination," he said.
