The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Has Been Canceled To Hold The Former Regent Of North Konawe Because Of Illness

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) canceled detaining former North Konawe Regent Aswad Sulaiman today. This cancellation occurred because he had to be immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

"The information we received from the doctor's examination, the suspect is sick," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, September 14.

Ali said Aswad had now received treatment. "(Taking care, ed) at Mayapada Hospital," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK is investigating allegations of corruption in the granting of permits for exploration and exploitation mining attorneys and mining business permits for production operations from the North Konawe Regency Government in 2007-2014.

In this case, the former Regent of North Konawe Aswad is suspected of accepting bribes of up to Rp13 billion from a number of businessmen who were given mining permits in his area. As a result of his actions, he was later named a suspect by the KPK and was considered to have harmed the state up to Rp2.7 trillion.

This figure, called the KPK, comes from the sale of nickel production which goes through a process that is not in accordance with the rules. Aswad is suspected of unilaterally revoking the mining power, which is mostly controlled by PT Antam.

Of all the permits issued, several companies have reached the production stage until they are exported. He was then suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended in Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
