Newly Inaugurated By Jokowi, Head Of Bakamla Plans To Add Patrol Boats

JAKARTA - The Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) will add patrol ships and improve facilities including bases to support the performance of its personnel.

This was conveyed by the Head of Bakamla, Vice Admiral TNI, Irvansyah, who had just been inaugurated by President Joko Widodo at the Jakarta Palace, Wednesday, September 13.

"Maybe later we will want to add elements to the ship, we will perfect it again, the facilities, we will improve the base, maybe there are stations, there are piers, ports. We are grateful that there will be a new training place later, and later we will have our own mako ( command headquarters), not in a building that may not have our own, "said Irvansyah in response to reporters' questions after the handover ceremony of the Head of Bakamla at Bakamla Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

Irvansyah also stated that he was committed to continuing his predecessor achievements and work programs, Vice Admiral TNI (Ret.) Aan Kurnia.

On that occasion, Irvansyah assessed that the work and activity programs that had been running in Bakamla during Aan Kurnia's leadership had gone well.

On the same occasion, Irvansyah emphasized that his future policy line is not much different from what Aan has done.

"I am not far different from Mr (Aan Kurnia), because I, apart from lichting's younger brother, (I) was his subordinate, had also been his deputy in Guspurla (Sea Battle Group) first. So, all teachings and information (got) from him," he said.

Aan, after the sertijab ceremony, also left a message to his foster brother.

Admiral TNI Irvansyah is a high-ranking Navy officer who graduated from the 36th Navy Academy in 1990. The three-star general served as Commander of the Military Cross-Seatra Command (20202021), Commander of Fleet III Command (20212023), and Commander of the Joint Defense Area Command (Pangkogabwilhan) I in 2023.
