Bank Robbers Arrested By North Sumatra Police Have Actioned In Malaysia

Four interbank customers who were arrested by a joint team of Sub-Directorate III of the North Sumatra Police, have robbed customers at Bank Penang, Malaysia.

Four suspects were arrested by officers, namely US, UM, RM and RT. For the suspect, RT from his confession had acted in Penang, Malaysia and managed to take the victim's bag containing RM 10,000 (around Rp. 25 million).

"So actually the suspect RT is an international criminal perpetrator," said Director of General Crimes at the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Sumaryono, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13.

From the results of the preliminary examination of the four perpetrators, it is known that they acted in eight crime scenes.

"Actually, there are more than eight crime scenes, but they only remember that one. But of course they have been in action since 2010," he said.

Several locations that have been committed crimes by the perpetrators are Kuantan Bay, Pekan Baru (Riau), Padang Lawas, Tarutung, Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang (North Sumatra), Majalengka, Bekasi (West Java), Banten, Lilin River (South Sumatra), and Jambi.

"The total loss is still being investigated, but it is certainly estimated to reach almost Rp. 1 billion," he said.

Sumaryono said that when the four perpetrators were arrested by the police, they were planning their next action to rob Bank BRI customer target Harapan Tani Branch, Indra Giri Hilir Regency, Riau.

According to the suspects, the target of the next victim will take up to hundreds of millions of rupiah in the bank.

"However, their action has not yet occurred, they were immediately arrested by the police," he said.

During the arrest, the joint team consisted of Sub-Directorate III of the North Sumatra Police together by the North Tapanuli Police and the Deli Serdang Police. For the motive, the perpetrators always target bank customers who make cash disbursement transactions. Where one of the perpetrators will monitor inside the bank and pretend to be in line, while the other perpetrators are already on standby outside the bank.

"I urge the public, if they know and see a crime, immediately report it to the nearest police station, and always be aware of the crime," said Sumaryono.
