Crowded Echelon II Pemalang Jalani Trial Of Bribery Case Of Inactive Regent Mukti Agung Regarding Promotion Of Positions

A total of four echelon II officials in Pemalang Regency who are defendants of alleged bribery promotion of the former Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo underwent an indictment hearing today, Wednesday, September 13.

The four Secretary of the Pemalang Regency DPRD Sodik Ismanto, Head of Satpol PP Raharjo, Head of the National Unity and Political Agency Bambang Haryono, and Assistant for Government and Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of Pemalang Regency Moh Ramdon.

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) Joko Hermawan in his indictment said the four defendants gave a sum of money to the Pemalang Regent for the promotion of the positions obtained.

Sodik Ismanto, Bambang Haryono, and Moh. Ramdon each gave Rp100 million, which was referred to as thanksgiving money to the regent through their confidant Adi Jumal Widodo.

"The defendant gave a sum of IDR 50 million for his position as Head of the Environmental Service," said the Panel of Judges, chaired by Kukuh Subyakto at the Semarang Corruption Court, Wednesday, September 13, as reported by Antara.

For their actions, the defendants were charged with Article 5 Paragraph 1 or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

Previously, three echelon II officials in Pemalang Regency also first underwent a trial for alleged bribery in the promotion of positions to the Pemalang Regent last week.

The three defendants were the Head of the Education and Culture Office, Abdul Rachman, the Head of the Public Empowerment Service and the Suhirman Village Government, and the Head of the Regional Revenue Management Agency, Mubarak Ahmad.

In the bribery case, former Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung Wibowo was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison in the case of alleged receipt of bribes and gratuities at the Pemalang Regency Government in 2021-2022.

The defendant is also required to pay compensation for state losses for the proceeds of corruption enjoyed amounting to Rp4.9 billion.

Mukti Agung Wibowo was found guilty of violating Article 12 letter a, Article 12 letter b, and Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

Apart from Mukti Agung, four service heads who are also bribes of the regent have been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison.

The four convicts were Acting Pemalang Secretary Slamet Masduki, Head of Pemalang BPBD Sugiyanto, Head of Pemalang Kominfo Service Yanuarius Natbani, and Head of PUPR Pemalang Service Muhammad Saleh.
