Police Arrested Gang Of Thieves Of Dozens Of Goats In Cianjur

CIANJUR - Police officers from the Cianjur Resort, West Java, arrested six perpetrators of theft of dozens of goats belonging to residents in Cibokor Village, Cibeber District. The police also confiscated a pickup truck used to carry stolen livestock.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Cianjur Police Iptu Tono Listianto said the six perpetrators with the initials AY alias Batak, AS, UO, DM, S, and R were arrested at their hiding place on Sunday (10/9) after the police received a report from the victim on Thursday (7/9).

"The perpetrator's brain is AY alias Batak who was arrested along with five other perpetrators without a fight while hiding in the Bogor area. Officers secured a unit of a four-wheeled pickup truck used to carry stolen livestock," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 12.

According to the perpetrator, dozens of stolen goats were sold to the Bogor area.

While carrying out the action, the six perpetrators who covered their faces with cloth had locked the goat pen and threatened to kill their lives if they resisted.

The cage guard could not do much because under threat with his hands and feet tied and ordered to face down. He could only surrender when he saw the perpetrator carrying 24 goats belonging to his employer.

"Their action was caught on CCTV so that it can make it easier for officers to identify the six perpetrators who were finally arrested after a few days after carrying out their actions," said Tono.

The six perpetrators were charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison. Meanwhile, AY alias Batak as the mastermind behind the theft and also a recidivist who has been in and out of prison three times will be subject to additional punishment.

Tono added that the six perpetrators had stolen livestock several times in Cianjur's jurisdiction, so his party asked residents who felt they had lost livestock to report to the nearest police station or Cianjur Police Headquarters.

"We ask residents to further improve the security of their respective neighborhoods and report immediately if they find anything suspicious to the nearest police station or go directly to the Cianjur Police Headquarters," he said.
