MATARAM - Police have named five young men as suspects in the beating case against a foreign national from the United States named Nicholas Tood Badgero.

"From the investigation, the five perpetrators were suspected of jointly assaulting an American foreigner. They are now named as suspects who violated Article 170 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 351 of the Criminal Code," said Dirreskrimum Polda NTB Kombes Hari Brata in Mataram, quoted by Antara, Thursday , February 4.

The five youths who carried out the beatings had the initials JA (21), SA (23), SR (22), RB (20), and AZ (24). The persecution took place in a bar in the tourist area of Gili Air, North Lombok Regency.

"The mode is just a misunderstanding. Because they both drink alcohol, get drunk, then there is a friend of the victim who makes a fuss with Russian foreigners. But when they want to intervene, the victim is beaten by the perpetrators," he said.

According to him, as a result of the beatings, the victim was seriously injured. Tearing on the right lower lip, bruising on the right forehead, redness on the shoulder, blisters on the back of the head, and redness on the right arm and back.

The victim who did not accept the actions of the perpetrators, he said, then reported the case to the NTB Regional Police.

"From the report, we carried out investigations and continued with the determination of the suspect and detention," he said.

Their actions, he said, were strengthened by the presence of CCTV camera footage installed at the scene.

"So the role of each of these actors has been revealed from the results of the inspection of the CCTV cameras at the scene," said Hari.
