TANGERANG - Police arrested a man with the initials AJ (44) in a case of possession of a homemade firearm (senpi). This type of pen gun is suspected to be used for crimes.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Commissioner (Kombes) Zain Dwi Nugroho, said that the disclosure began with public reports regarding firearm ownership. On that basis, said Zain, his party carried out an investigation until finally the perpetrator was arrested at a rented house in Kedaung Wetan, Neglasari, Tangerang City.

"When a search was carried out on AJ, a pen-shaped weapon was found from his waist bag," said Zain in his statement, Sunday, September 9.

Apart from finding a rifle at the alleged perpetrator's house, the police also found 23 22mm live bullets, 6 hollow bullets and one bullet casing.

"Apart from the pen gun, a number of ammunition was also found. Then, for further examination, the perpetrator was taken to the Pinang Police. (As a result) the perpetrator admitted that this pen gun was his," he said.

For possession of firearms, the perpetrator can be charged under Article 1 paragraph (2) of Law Number 12 of 1951 with the threat of 20 years in prison.
